Prof. Dr. Ralf Plattfaut
Co-Founder, PNexus Consulting
Prof. Dr. Ralf Plattfaut is Professor of Information Systems and Transformation Management at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where he leads the Process Innovation & Automation Lab. Before his current role, he was Professor of Information Systems at South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences (2019–2023). He studied Information Systems at the Universities of Münster and Liechtenstein, where he also received his PhD. Prior to academia, he worked as a Management Consultant at McKinsey & Company, supporting organizations in the digitalization of business processes.
His research focuses on digital transformation, process innovation, automation, digital responsibility, and agile organizational management. His work has been recognized with several Best Paper Award nominations (ICIS 2022 & 2024, HICSS) and published in leading journals. In addition, he was ranked among the Top 20 German-speaking management researchers under 40 by Wirtschaftswoche.
Beyond academia, Prof. Plattfaut is a frequent keynote speaker at international conferences and actively engages in consulting projects. He combines academic excellence with hands-on expertise to help organizations leverage data-driven processes, implement automation at scale, and navigate transformation successfully.
Jannis Nacke
Co-Founder, PNexus Consulting
Jannis Nacke is a Research Associate at the Chair of Information Systems and Transformation Management at the University of Duisburg–Essen. His research focuses on the adoption and impact of process mining, data-driven transformation, and automation in organizations.
Before joining academia, Jannis worked as Data Science Manager and Head of the Center of Excellence Celonis at the Enervie Group. In this role, he led the company-wide implementation of process mining and automation initiatives, establishing the foundation for data-driven management in the energy sector.
Jannis holds a Master’s degree in Data Analytics and Management from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with Informatics from South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences.
By combining his practical industry experience with academic research, Jannis supports PNexus clients in defining use cases, launching pilot projects, and scaling process mining initiatives across organizations.
